You're invited to join me for —
"Being In the World:
Finding Value and Meaning"
A special Sunday service with
Ari Cowan
at the
Spiritual Enrichment Center of West Sound
Bainbridge Island, Washington
Sunday, 31 August 2008
10:30 AM
I haven't been doing much public speaking recently, focusing more on my theoretical work and writing. But at the request of Rev. Michael Bogar, I've agreed to fill in for him for the Sunday, 31 August 2008 service at his church. I did a service at the SECWS some time ago and found the people there to be warm, welcoming, and thoughtful.
“To get into the core of the Divine at its most,
one must first get into the core of one’s self at one’s least,
for no one can know the divinity of life
without first knowing the humanity of the self.” |
— Johann (Meister) Eckhart
(c1260 - 1328)

The Presentation
Here are some points I'll cover during my presentation:
- Being in the world — "Who are you and what are you doing here?".
- The human need for power.
- The denial of death (Ernest Becker).
- Getting into the core of the divine (Meister Eckhart).
- Finding value and meaning.
It will be delightful to get together with everyone and to visit at the social following the service. Please plan to join me. Visitors are most welcome. And Bainbridge Island is a wonderful place to visit.
