The Questions

Here are the first two questions to be included:

Q — How does the PAR Model relate to programs such as the Alternatives to Violence Program (AVP), Nonviolent Communication (NC), and other approaches to ending violence?

A — The AVP is congruent with the "Violence Integrative Prevention and Restoration (PAR) Model. It teaches a body of values such as positive affirmation, respect for self and others, and caring for the well being of others as well as effective communication techniques. There is commonality here with other efforts such as Nonviolent Communication (NC), a program which is also congruent with the PAR Model. They all work together.

Q — In what way is the PAR Model different from the Alternatives to Violence Program (AVP), Nonviolent Communication (NC), and other approaches to ending violence?

A — The PAR Model goes beyond the values and techniques taught by these programs and redescribes the nature of being and the relationship of that state of being to power and control (healthy, unhealthy, and benign). Application of the Model results in self-reorganization via reestablishing answers to three ontological (fundamental) questions: "Who am I?", "What is the nature of the world?", and "What is my place in that world?".
